EPISODE DRINK:

Sticky Sticky Basil Mojito

INGREDIENTS

  • 10 large basil leaves, divided
  • 1/4 C plus 2 tsp superfine or granulated sugar, divided
  • 1/4 C lime juice
  • 1/2 C white rum
  • About 1/2 C cold club soda
  • Lime wedges

PREPARATION

  • Make basil sugar for glass rim:
    • Put 2 basil leaves and 1/4 C sugar in food processor until blended
    • Set aside on a plate
  • In a shaker combine lime juice, 4 TB sugar, remaining basil leaves
  • Muddle with muddler or wooden spoon until leaves are broken up
  • Add rum and a few ice cubes
  • Shakeshakeshake
  • Rub a lime wedge along rim of 2 lowball glasses and dip in basil sugar (reserving remaining sugar for more cocktails)
  • Add a few ice cubes to each glass
  • Remove top from shaker (do not strain) and divide mixture between glasses
  • Top off each with club soda and stir
  • Garnish with a lime wedge and/or basil leaf

Makes two drinks, or one double in a highball. Enjoy!
